Aquired Gear
The goal is to have a two channel kit as a mainstay for narrative recording. I will also have a racked and mobile 16 channel kit for recording ensemble work, both musically and with groups of actors.
So far I’ve gathered:
Production Staff
- 6 Desktop IP phones: Used for communication and coordination among the production staff.
- Raspberry Pi PBX and messaging system: Handles internal communication and messaging for the team.
Audio Recording and Editing Desks
- 16 channels of Focusrite interface and preamps: Provides high-quality audio inputs and preamplification for recording multiple sources simultaneously.
- Yamaha AW4416 workstation (repair needed): Digital audio workstation for recording and mixing without need for a computer.
- Two Linux boxes running Harrison Mixbus 32c software: Computers with advanced digital audio workstation software for mixing and editing audio.
- Mackie 1604 VLZ V3 console: Analog mixing console used for preamps feeding the digital interface.
Microphones
- 2 Shure SM7b dynamics: Dynamic microphones ideal for close recording.
- An array of drum mics:
Outboard Gear
- 1 Symetrix 551E 5-band parametric EQ: Tracking equalizer.
- 1 Klark Teknik 76-KT Limiter/Compressor: Tracking compressor. Provides dynamic range control by limiting and compressing audio signals, ensuring consistent levels and preventing distortion.
